“Kylie’s Cumming Out Party” is a multimedia installation by Kylie Lefkowitz in the SPH special project space. This project aims to showcase a large body of Lefkowitz’ work completed over a six month period in Rome followed by a two month long residency with Solo(s) Project House. The artist will create an environment where viewers are invited to contemplate various paintings, drawings, and prints in a performance driven environment. By combining a swanky cocktail party reminiscent of what the artist calls “prohibition era badassery” and a space teeming with controversial, vulnerable, intimate works charged with emotion and opinion, the artist intends to present a Salon di Enigma worthy of inquiry. As a retaliation to the ever expanding art market at large, Lefkowitz intends to combat the commercialization of artworks by presenting an exhibition oozing of nostalgia for more intimate times. By craming works into the space, she hopes to provoke a return to authenticity and excite viewers.

Lefkowitz attended The School of Visual Arts, (NY, NY), obtaining a BFA through the department of Visual and Critical Studies. She is based out of the NY/NJ area, but travels as often as possible studying various languages and cultures, and doing artist residencies. She works as an artist, writer, art educator, creative director, hair stylist, and model. Her artwork is predominantly centered around ideas of sexual exploration, emotional trials and tribulations, and the overall human experience.
