Solo(s) Project House presents:
HANNAH CRAFT: THE CHILD LOOKS UP AND…
October 21, 2011 – May 12, 2012
“I want the viewer to be present before my work, to “see” with eyes, nose, tongue and fingertips, or at least imagine what they might perceive.”
Craft’s work strives to play a more active role in the art/audience relationship, at times even literally growing before the viewer. The purpose is to offer a physical experience to those who view the work and force the viewer into the realization that perhaps they are not viewing the same piece seen yesterday.
Craft’s installation that will open October 21st is another attempt to simultaneously comprehend and complicate perceptions of time and memory. Utilizing natural and artificial materials and methodical processes, snippets of a fleeting and long ago conversation held while walking on pine needles are memorialized by a shimmering reproduction in the entrance of Newark’s Solo(s)Project House.
