Solo(s) Project House will present a new lobby installation featuring the work of Jamie Bruno. The exhibition “RARE DIRT” will be on view from January 11th – March 2nd, 2014. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, January 11th from 7-10pm.
RARE DIRT // Rare dirt employs found objects, stop motion video and black & white photography in a presentation of artifacts from a 2011 farming trip where the artist worked for food and board in five states across the American south.
Jamie Bruno is an artist and art educator based in Newark, NJ. A large theme of her work investigates the interrelationship of living systems and the natural environment on multiple scale of attention. Jamie employs video, drawing, painting and photography to suggest grand narratives of post-industrial, capitalist society while mining and intermixing contemporary issues of life, land and womanhood with the personal and experiential.
SPH is located at 972 Broad St. in the arts district of downtown Newark, NJ. It is free and open to the public, Wednesday – Friday from 12 – 6pm.
